The Redlands Noon Rotary Club is proud to celebrate a truly extraordinary achievement. Our own Cal Boothby has been selected to receive the Service Above Self Award, one of the highest honors presented by Rotary International.

This award represents the very pinnacle of recognition for an individual Rotarian. It honors those who demonstrate exceptional dedication to humanitarian service and who truly embody Rotary’s guiding principle, Service Above Self.

A rare and prestigious global honor

To understand the significance of this recognition, it is important to look at the scale of Rotary’s global impact.

Rotary International is a network of more than 1.2 million members across the world. Each year, only about 150 individuals are selected to receive the Service Above Self Award.

That represents an incredibly small percentage of Rotarians worldwide. In fact, it is roughly one hundredth of one percent.

This distinction places Cal among the very top tier of Rotary members across the globe.

Recognition built over years of service

The Service Above Self Award is not given for a single successful project or one strong year of involvement.

Instead, it reflects years, and often decades, of consistent and selfless dedication to improving the lives of others.

Recipients are nominated by fellow Rotarians who have witnessed their impact firsthand. From there, candidates go through a rigorous international review process before being selected.

This makes the award not only prestigious, but deeply meaningful.

It represents a lifetime of service, leadership, and commitment to making a difference.

A proud moment for Redlands Rotary

For many Rotary clubs, this level of recognition is something they may never experience.

That is what makes this moment so special for the Redlands Noon Rotary Club.

Cal’s achievement is not only a personal honor. It is also a reflection of the values that define our club and our commitment to serving the Redlands community and beyond.

It highlights what is possible when service is approached with consistency, humility, and purpose.

    Living the Rotary mission

Rotary’s mission is built on the idea that individuals can create lasting change through service.

Boothby’s recognition is a powerful example of that mission in action.

Through years of dedication, leadership, and compassion, CAL has made a meaningful impact on countless lives. This award acknowledges not just the work that has been done, but the spirit behind it.

It is a reminder that service is not about recognition. It is about commitment, care, and the desire to make the world a better place.

    Inspiring others to serve

Moments like this do more than celebrate an individual. They inspire an entire community.

Cal’s recognition challenges all of us to reflect on how we can contribute, give back, and serve with intention.

Whether through volunteering, supporting local initiatives, or joining organizations like Rotary, each person has the ability to make a difference.

Join Rotary in making an impact

The Redlands Noon Rotary Club continues to welcome individuals who are passionate about community service, leadership, and connection.

If you are looking for a way to get involved in Redlands, Rotary offers opportunities to serve both locally and globally.

Together, we can continue to build a stronger community and carry forward the spirit of Service Above Self.
