Beginning in the early 1980’s, the Rotary Club of Redlands began hosting an annual wine tasting event open to the public, called “Red Wine and Brews”. The funds raised by this event benefit student scholarships. In the mid 1990’s, the club searched for additional fundraising ideas to raise scholarship funds. Long-time member Ron Jeffrey proposed an elegant dinner paired with great wines. The idea took off and was successful for many years.
Ron headed the Winemaker Dinner committee with many other Rotarians, and there have been some great dinners over the years. Today, the Rotary Club of Redlands continues this tradition along with Red Wine and Brews. Our annual Winemaker Dinner is named after its founder, Ron Jeffrey.
Ron was always generous to the club. He worked hard on the Club’s many projects. As Membership Chair, he personally brought in more members than any other member in the club’s history. We lost Ron in 2019 but his memory lives on.
