Spoke Newsletter – March 28th, 2024

TODAY

It’s time for CRAFT TALKS! Today we’ll learn more about some of the Club’s more recent members: LINDA NOLIN, BRANDON MOULDER, SHERI BOGH, and KEVIN EBERLE-NOEL. JULIE MICHAELS will moderate the panel for this Rotarianfest.

LAST WEEK

SERENA DAVIS and TISH SANDOS shared the amazing success story of the Smiley Heritage Tours field trip program, now operating for more than 40 years. The tour spreads the love of local history to every fourth grader throughout the East San Bernardino Valley. Originally founded as an auxiliary project of the Redlands Assistance League, the group migrated under the umbrella of A.K. Smiley Public Library in the mid-2010s.

NEXT WEEK

TIM EVANS from Inland Empire Chapter of The Unforgettables Foundation will be on hand. “The mission of The Unforgettables Foundation is to assist at risk and grieving families with finances to help them afford a timely and dignified funeral for their child.”

REMINDERS

This year’s 37th annual Red, Wine, & Blues event will take place on Saturday May 11, 2024 from 4 – 7pm at Kimberly Crest House & Gardens.

    ROTARY ETIQUETTE

Every once in a while, everyone has something pop up that precludes the ability to stay for the program – on those rare occasions, don’t forget to make your apologies to the speaker before scooting.

    THE SPOKE

If you enjoy just a wee bit of writing, then do we have the opportunity for you! The month of May is currently available for a lucky Rotarian to serve as editor – just let NATHAN GONZALES know… He’ll be eternally grateful to you!

    PRESIDENTS MESSAGE

Did you know that today is both World Passion Fruit Martini Day and National Brisket Day?! I certainly don’t have those ingredients readily available, but I imagine a trip to a bar like Mu might suffice for the martini, and Cornerstone BBQ for the brisket! (this was not a paid ad). As always, I am eager to see how the birthday folks fare today… best of luck. And looking to the near future, we are well underway for Red, Wine, and Blues. This year featuring music from the Chuck Manning Quartet – an LA jazz fixture. And we already have nearly 9 cases of wine for the event, as the committee works on procuring the rest. A big thank you to JOHN TINCHER who has already offered some great wines for the event!
