GARNER HOLT FOUNDATION

The Garner Holt Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to increase hope, ignite imagination, and inspire creativity in the lives of young people through hands-on, career- focused learning experiences in the areas of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. To bring these experiences to life, the Garner Holt Foundation creates immersive learning opportunities for under served youth throughout the community to explore careers in engineering, robotics, automation, programming, manufacturing, and the visual and performing arts, while simultaneously building in-demand job skills and the self-confidence needed to pursue their own paths to success in the careers of their dreams.

LAST WEEK

JILL PRENDERGAST

MIKE SAVAGE, gave a very interesting presentation on Coarzon’s unique model that builds homes for needy families in Mexico. The unique characteristic of this program is that the beneficiaries of this program contribute before and after they receive their home. The recipients become part of the volunteer workforce. On top of this, Rotary is becoming a big part of the program going forward. He spoke about how our group can contribute
and perhaps plan for an international project going forward.

NEXT WEEK
REDLANDS HIGH SCHOOL MUSIC PROGRAM

REDLANDS HS MUSIC PROGRAM

Some of his many accomplishments included reviving the “Leadership Redlands” program as well as being a member of our club. For that he gets an award, and we get $100.

ITEMS TO CONTEMPLATE

  • I have a lot of jokes about unemployment, but none of them work.
  • Why didn’t the toilet paper make it across the street? It got stuck in the crack.
  • What do you get from a dwarf cow? Condensed milk
  • Do you know why you never see an elephant hiding in a tree? Because they are good at it.
  • What are 100 rabbits hopping backwards called? A receding hare line!

PRESIDENTS MESSAGE

Happy December! With the Christmas Parade, Y Home Tour, and lighting ceremony at Kimberly Crest happening all this past weekend, it certainly feels like the holiday season is well under way. Not to mention the crazy parking lots everywhere – I recommend staying home and having a glass of wine instead. Better for your health, you know! We have some fun meetings ahead of us with musical programs and delicious food, so be sure to finish out 2023 strong at ROTARY and join us!
