TODAY

SANDY PENDLETON-DORTON of Project Shield will present about the project’s efforts to educate the public to keep our youth safe on social media and about human trafficking dangers. We will learn about “red flags” that can alert us to these dangers and will understand what we can do to create awareness and promote prevention.

LAST WEEK

Attendance was lower last week but we made up for it with laughter! For those of you who missed it, too bad for you. KEVIN DRYSDALE and RYAN PENA of Craig & Sons Termite and Pest Control, Inc., presented to us about their various services. KEVIN educated us on “Frass,” a new term for some of us that will be extremely handy (depending on the situation). We learned that RYAN abandoned his dreams of rock stardom in order to be our go-to Mayor of Murdertown. It was a (surprisingly?) entertaining presentation.

NEXT WEEK

Our own KYRA STEWART will give us an update about Redlands Family Services Association. We are eager to hear how the year is unfolding and what exciting news she will present. Stay tuned!

HIGHLIGHTS OF LAST WEEK

Executive Director BRANDI COLLATTO of the Redlands YMCA attended our meeting again. Word on the street is she may have submitted an application for membership. Perhaps we should question her judgment, not sure.

SHERI BOGH announced that the Pink Party is back, baby!! September 14th will be this year’s soiree at the Burrage. Get those pinks and whites out of the closet and get ready to be awed by the new fashion show hosted by Redlands’ own Shop Suey! I’ll be there… will you?

INVOICES

Our Treasurer, CAL BOOTHBY informs me the new year due’s invoices were sent out on July 8th. If you have not received one, please contact CAL at 951-201-3481 or by email at poolspa97@aol.com. If you have any questions, please contact CAL.

ANOTHER NOTE FROM THE RECEPTION DESK

Our pay at the door meal price has gone from $20 to $25. Guest lunches are $25.00. If your guest is a potential new member we allow for 3 free lunches. Please make sure the guest signs in. We have guests walk past the reception desk without checking in. JERRY and CAL usually have to hunt them down and ask who, what, or when. We try to be a friendly club. It would be great to email CAL and THOMAS that you are bringing a guest to club. Thank you from the reception desk.

THE SPOKE JOKE

Three friends, a redhead, a brunette and a blonde, were stranded on a deserted island. The brunette found a magic lamp that washed up on the shore. She dusted the lamp off with her sleeve. A genie appeared and agreed to grant each friend one wish. “I want to go home,” says the brunette. The genie granted her wish – POOF, she vanished. “I want to go home, too,” says the redhead. The genie granted her wish – POOF, vanished. The blonde looks around, despondent. “I’m lonely,” she said. “I sure wish my friends were here.”

PRESIDENTS MESSAGE

Hey everyone! We now know much more about Craig and Sons and different kinds of bugs in our local area. I’m glad we don’t have the type of termites that will eat our houses up too quickly. I’m excited to meet BEA this week, our amazing inbound exchange student from Brazil. Let’s make her feel welcome
and show her what our club and community is all about! Our youth are the future of our Rotary Club and our community. Let’s focus some on engaging and empowering them through our awesome programs and initiatives. By investing in our young friends, we’re not just creating future leaders, but also keeping our Rotary club strong and relevant. We can team up more with some local schools, youth groups, and Interact clubs to offer mentorship, support, and growth opportunities. From scholarships to leadership workshops, we have a real chance to make a lasting impact on young lives. I encourage everyone to get involved in our youth initiatives. Share your knowledge, your experiences, and help with nurturing the next generation of Rotarians. Together, we can inspire and empower our youth to reach their full potential and become active, engaged members of our community.
